Frequently Asked Questions
HOW IS PRR WEALTH MANAGEMENT DIFFERENT?
Doing things differently was the basis for forming PRR Wealth Management and continues to be today. Our key differentiators are:
- We are a fiduciary, meaning we’re legally bound to always put our client’s interests first
- We utilize technology to reduce costs and pass those savings to our clients
- We are fee-only and charge a more client-friendly, sensible fee
- We apply our vast knowledge of alternative investments and risk management to help clients grow and maintain their wealth
WHO IS YOUR TYPICAL CLIENT?
We primarily serve three types of clients: retirees, pre-retirees, and young professionals.
- Retirees focus on preserving their wealth, generating reliable income, and planning their legacy.
- Pre-retirees are nearing the end of their accumulation years and need guidance to transition into drawing income from the assets they’ve built.
- Young professionals are typically strong savers looking to align their income, assets, and employer benefits into a unified plan. Their goal is to build wealth and potentially make work optional by their fifties.
WHO’S NOT A GOOD FIT?
We operate as a fully discretionary firm, meaning our clients trust us to make investment decisions on their behalf. Our approach involves sophisticated strategies designed to generate returns and manage risk effectively. While we’re passionate about educating clients—and have even taught investment classes—we’re not the right fit for those who expect to be consulted before every trade or portfolio adjustment.
Additionally, we rely on technology to serve clients efficiently. Most of our meetings are conducted virtually via Zoom.
ARE YOU LIMITED BY GEOGRAPHY?
No—there are no geographical limitations. We can work with clients anywhere in the U.S. Most states allow us to serve a limited number of clients without requiring registration. Once we reach that threshold, we complete all necessary state registrations to remain fully compliant.
HOW DO YOU GET PAID?
We are a fee-only financial planning and wealth management firm. Our only compensation comes directly from the clients we serve. We don’t receive any commissions or sell any products. We charge clients a fixed annual fee that is paid monthly. The fee is calculated according to client net worth. Learn more here.
I’D LIKE TO LEARN MORE, WHAT ARE THE NEXT STEPS?
Schedule an introductory meeting using our online booking form. You can also reach us by phone on 706-508-0266 or email chris.wilson@prrwm.com. If you’re not ready to meet but want to stay in touch, feel free to sign up for our periodic newsletter at the bottom of this page, and follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
DO YOU CHARGE A FEE FOR AN INTRODUCTARY MEETING?
No. Our first meeting will be a low-key conversation where we will get to know one another and see if we are a good fit to work together. We’ll get an overview of your financial situation and goals, discuss how we work with our clients, and go over our fees. Transparency is key to our approach.
WHAT IS YOUR INVESTMENT PHILOSOPHY?
Our investment philosophy is built on the following core principles.
-
Keep Costs Low: We aim to capture broad market performance without burdening portfolios with high or hidden fund fees.
-
Maximize Tax Efficiency: Tax-aware strategies help our clients keep more of what they earn.
-
Embrace Innovation: We’re not afraid to invest in future-focused technologies. Many self-described “conservative” investors miss out on meaningful growth by avoiding innovative companies due to short-term volatility.
-
Stay Disciplined: We take a long-term view and remove emotion from investment decisions, avoiding the pitfalls of reactive behavior.
-
Use Options Strategically: We take advantage of market speculation by selling options at premium prices to generate income.
-
Defend Against Inflation: We prioritize protecting purchasing power by addressing the long-term risk of inflation and currency debasement.
IS THERE A MINIMUM ASSET LEVEL TO WORK WITH PRR WEALTH MANAGEMENT?
We don’t have a minimum asset level, net worth, or income level needed to work with us. We do, however, have a minimum annual fee of $3,000 ($250 per month).
WHY DID YOU NAME YOUR FIRM PRR?
The firm was originally named Peritus Wealth Management. “Peritus” is Latin for “skilled” or “expert,” reflecting our deep expertise—particularly in alternative investments and derivatives.
However, we later discovered that a nearby firm was using the same name. Rather than pursue a costly and time-consuming dispute, we chose to rebrand as PRR Wealth Management.
PRR stands for Positive Real Return. Many investors focus solely on nominal returns, overlooking the impact of inflation and declining purchasing power. Our mission is to help clients—retirees, pre-retirees, and young professionals—grow and preserve their wealth in real terms, ensuring their money works as hard as they do.
DO YOU HAVE ANY SPECIAL DESIGNATIONS?
I began my career as a retail advisor in 2005 and initially pursued the CFP® (Certified Financial Planner) designation. I completed approximately 85% of the coursework but did not sit for the final exam due to personal circumstances at the time.
In 2015, I shifted my focus toward a more technical and advanced understanding of finance by enrolling part-time in the Quantitative and Computational Finance (MS QCF) program at Georgia Tech. This rigorous degree combined traditional finance with cutting-edge tools like automation, data analysis, and financial engineering. I completed the program in 2017.
Since then, I’ve applied these advanced techniques to manage both my own portfolio and client assets—using strategies designed to generate income, manage risk, and selectively speculate where appropriate.
